Gary Medlin has established a reputation in Texas as a seasoned criminal defense attorney with over four decades of experience. After earning a B.S. from Texas Tech University in 1979 and a J.D. from Texas Tech University School of Law in 1982, he was admitted to the Texas bar in 1983 and later became board‑certified in criminal law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization, a distinction held by only about ten percent of Texas attorneys. Before founding Arlington Criminal Attorneys, he served over eight years as an assistant district attorney, which gives him rare insight into prosecutorial strategies. Since transitioning to defense work, he has handled thousands of cases, from misdemeanors to serious felonies, and argues matters before state courts, the U.S. Supreme Court, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit. Gary is a member of the State Bar of Texas, the Texas Criminal Defense Lawyers Association, the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, the National College for DUI Defense, and multiple local bar associations. He is also fluent in Spanish, Russian, and Ukrainian. Clients value his steady leadership and his commitment to personalized representation; a commitment he has maintained throughout his career.
Before focusing on criminal defense, Gary Medlin worked for more than eight years as an assistant district attorney, prosecuting criminal charges.
